When it comes to sauces, dips, toppings, and even coffee… people are looking for ways to enhance the flavor, whether it be with something sweet or something salty.
The problem is most of these add-ons we like to use, regardless if they're sweet or salty, are loaded with added sugars.
Not ideal on a ketogenic diet.
I was looking for alternatives, primarily for my sweet tooth, which is how I came across this one brand's product line nearly 15 years ago.
Are Walden farms products keto friendly? Yes, all of Walden farms products from syrups to ketchup are keto-friendly and contain zero calories and carbohydrates, making them a perfect addition to a ketogenic diet.
In this article, I'll go over some of Walden farms products, my favorite ones to use, my least favorites, and different ways you can incorporate them into your ketogenic diet.
Is Walden Farms Keto Friendly?
Every single one of Walden Farms products is listed as having “No calories, fat, carbs, gluten, or sugars of any kind!”
Not only are Walden Farms products keto-friendly, but they can be an excellent substitution for those looking to save additional calories by substituting a Walden Farms product for something you may already be using.
While Walden Farms products are listed as “0” calories, most products, including Walden Farms, have a trace amount of calories per serving. The same idea applies to diet soda, sugar-free gum, spices, and even oil cooking spray.
What's this mean?
All of these items contain trace calories. When a product has under ~5 calories, manufacturers are allowed to list them as having 0 calories.
Just remember that next time you decide to coat your pan with 10 seconds of cooking spray 1. Do that enough times, and you're probably ingesting an extra few hundred calories per week you may not be accounting for.
A note on keto friendlyFor a food to be “keto-friendly,” this means that it contains very little to no carbohydrates. The reason being, with carbs already so low, we want to ensure that those carbohydrates you consume are nutritious whole-foods, especially those from vegetables.
By staying under a certain amount of carbohydrates per day, we ensure our bodies remain in a state of ketosis.
Just how much carbohydrates or sugar will kick you out of ketosis? That is very individual and based on a variety of factors, but most people find that 20 to 50 grams of net carbs seem to work well.
What are Walden Farms products made of?
Most people wonder how Walden Farms products can contain zero calories and zero carbohydrates, and I used to wonder the same thing myself.
To answer this question, let's look at a few of the ingredients to get a better understanding of what goes into a Walden Farms product.
Let's look at Walden Farms Pancake Syrup, which is my favorite product of theirs without a doubt.
As you can see, the first ingredient is triple filtered, purified water, followed by a few thickening agents, preservatives, flavorings, a bit natural coloring, and the sweetener sucralose.
Most of the Walden Farms products are more or less made with the same ingredients, but flavorings may vary depending on the product.
Other products, such as their salad dressings, may contain additional spices as seen below, but usually will have the same recipe “base.” of triple filtered water, sucralose, and thickeners to give it that thick creamy texture.
Walden Farms and Sucralose On Keto
Walden Farm's sweetener of choice for their products is sucralose, which also goes by the popular brand name Splenda.
Sucralose Is considered a non-nutritive sweetener, meaning they offer no nutritional benefits such as vitamins and minerals. Non-nutritive sweeteners such as sucralose are generally calorie-free and have a glycemic index of 0.
So does sucralose raise blood sugar? Since sucralose has no calories and little to no effect on blood sugar, this makes the use of sucralose perfectly acceptable on a ketogenic diet.
Coffee And Artificial Sweeteners On Keto
Walden Farms is also known for its coffee creamers, which are also listed as having 0 calories and 0 carbohydrates.
Walden Farm's creamers are a great addition to your keto coffee or with plain black coffee to give it some flavor without the sugar or the calories.
If you're looking for a great alternative to add some flavor to your morning coffee on keto that contains virtually 0 calories, my favorite coffee creamer from Walden Farms is their mocha coffee creamer followed by the french vanilla.

Keto Pancake Topping
If you've dabbled with some keto recipes, more specifically keto pancakes, you might be wondering what else you can top them with besides a pat of butter. My absolute favorite product from Walden Farms is their pancake syrup.
I kid you not; the pancake syrup is as close to the real thing, nut with no calories and no carbohydrates.
Not only do I top my keto-friendly pancakes with the Walden Farms pancake syrup, but I drizzle it over some fresh or frozen berries and some Greek yogurt for dessert most nights.
Again, not the biggest fan of all the syrup flavors Walden Farms offers, but the pancake and newly released maple bacon syrup are my favorites.
Other syrups Walden Farms makes are caramel, chocolate, blueberry, and strawberry.
As far as a Walden farms keto review goes, you have my full endorsement on the pancake syrup!

Walden Farms Dressings And Keto
For those of you who like to partake in salads or dip their vegetables in some dressing, I have great news. Walden Farms also carries a line of just about every popular salad dressing in existence.
The better part of that news is they are pretty good.
However, being that I'm not much for raw vegetables or salads myself, I like to use their dressings as condiments to other dishes, a meat dip, or as a marinade.
If I'm not mistaken, the salad dressings were one of the first products Waldens Farms released. Meaning, they've had a lot of time to gather feedback and revamp the salad dressings to make them better than ever.
Unlike some of the other lines of products where certain flavors are hit or miss, most of the Walden Farms dressings are favorable, in my opinion, and would make a great addition to your keto diet. They've even made it easier for those who travel or bring their lunches with them with the release of on-the-god salad dressing packets.
Or, if you have no shame like me, you'll carry along the bottle.
When it comes to the salad dressing line, my favorites include the bleu cheese dressing balsamic vinaigrette and honey dijon.

Additionally, here is a great keto orange chicken recipe I've used utilizing some of the Walden Farms dressings.
Not only are Walden Farms products keto friendly, but they are weight loss friendly as well.
All of Walden Farms products contain virtually no calories and no carbohydrates (only trace calories), making them great substitutions for products you may already use.
And assuming you enjoy the flavor of them.
When it comes to including Walden Farms syrups in your ketogenic diet, you need not worry about them preventing or kicking you out of ketosis.
But, as with anything, don't go overboard on them.
